What is digital illustration ?
Computer illustration or digital illustration is the use of digital tools to produce images under the direct manipulation of the artist, usually through a pointing device such as a tablet or a mouse. It is distinguished from computer-generated art, which is produced by a computer using mathematical models created by the artist. It is also distinct from digital manipulation of photographs, in that it is an original construction "from scratch".

There is a thing know as over kill in design but from time to time it is nice to have a little eye candy. Now with that said Macromedia Fireworks is the best and easiest way to create great looking 2D graphics. - Logo Design with Adobe Illustrator CS3.
There are many applications you can use to design a logo with and a few work well but the best software for this is by far Adobe Illustrator we use version CS4. There is a great feature in InDesign that we just love it's new from template and it will save you a lot of set up time. One of the biggest mistakes I see people make is not setting up their folder directory first when working with InDesign or Photoshop. Because InDesign is a lot like QuarkXpress in that it likes all the images in the same root directory it's best to start there in the first place. Each time I begin a project such as a brochure I set up a folder directory like the one is the example below.
